Ken Ficara: Harmonica, loops
Produced by Ken Ficara
Recorded on Green Street
After coffee this morning I sat down to work more on some drone pieces; this is one of the results. The basic drone was built the way I've always done it, in a one-second digital delay that doesn't decay. I used to do this in a Boss DD20, but that had very limited control over the feedback rate. Now I use an Eventide Timefactor, with an expression pedal that gives me direct control over the feedback, so I can mix and raise/lower levels as necessary.
Once I had the drone built, I looped it into an EHX 2880, several times, both stereo and mono. This builds up a nice smooth drone that spreads across the stereo image. Then I started some discreet style loops in a Boss RC50, letting them run against each other, fading them, replacing them, and allowing it all to decay into the 2880. I like this one better than any of the other drone pieces I've done lately.
This is my first contribution to this week's ImprovFriday.
